I came across this company who sell reasonably priced Turbines, just wondered if anyone had experience of them ?

They apparantly take in Chinese Turbines and upgrade them with SKF Bearings, etc, they have a good enough warranty (if the company lasts!) but just wanted to get opinions.

thanks

Well I'd be dubious about them straight off. On their Wind FAQ page, they list the prices of their batteries at two different prices within the space of two paragraphs. Their information is incorrect for the highest Wind Speed in the UK (142mph in Aberdeenshire).

They also do not include a physical address on their contact page. That alone is enough for me to not go near them. I may be doing them a disservice, but as somebody who creates and hosts websites for various companies in my spare time, any company who has approached me and specifically said no address instantly gets dropped.

To be fair, there IS a UK landline telephone number (Gloucester area code, rather than a premium rate, mobile or non-geographical number) on the web-site and a 'whois' search of the domain registrant provides a physical address in Cambridgeshire.

There are a couple of names on the site too, and a 192 search may be able to pin them down....and one is rather uncommon!

If they are not on the MCS list http://www.microgenerationcertification ... d+Turbines then you won't get any Feed-in Tariff payments, so payback would be rather extended compared to maybe a more expensive turbine that was.

Yeah I'm thinking its not a good idea.

Been looking at one of the names on their website and he seems to be playing with a number of 'enterprises' which isn't a good sign. Maybe another one thinking of a way to make a quick buck on the back of the Renewable bandwagon.

They mainly seem to be selling the same kit that Navitron sell - but at double the price.

Yup, and Navitron aren't exactly the 'economy' end of the market.

One really has to ask onesself, how much extra 'bang' do you get for your 'buck' with some suppliers. In this case, there seems to be a lot more 'buck' required for the same amount of 'bang'.
