The latest edition of the Permaculture magazine has an article about Maddy and Tims Garden-which will be featured in a Gardeners World spin off series to be shown in March and hosted by Alys Fowler-should be worth watching.

Sorry guys-Tim and Maddy Harland run the Permaculture Magazine/Permanent Publications from the Sustainability Centre near Petersfield in Hampshire-if you're ever down that way its a great place to visit, there are walks, camping ground, eco-hostel, eco-burial ground-you can buy books, tools and all things green related from them.
www.green-shopping.co.uk
or
www.permaculture.co.uk
The Permaculture Magazine is full of inspirational stories, advice and lots more on living a sustainable life.
I recommend it-but if you go on line you can read back articles.

Brilliant, can't wait to see this new programme. Read about it in the PM too, and have previously had a look around Maddy's garden so it will be great to see how it has developed.
On the calender to remind me. Thanks.

It was on BBC 2 last Wednesday 7th I think..so you can watch it on iplayer too! I missed it so am going to try and catch up with it tonight.

Permaculture is a fab mag - choc ful of really useful stuff. We get it at work (yippee!) and my colleague and I pounce on it as soon as it arrives. We have lots of back issues too.. :claphigh: Would certainly recommend a subscription to anyone.

yes I,m going to do that and some extras from a packet of dried peas to see if they will grow into fully podded ones too. Those beans must have been good plants as well getting all they needed from only four plants.

I'm a big Alys fan  and just watched this evenings programme with interest. I'd not heard the idea of using radish seed pods as a foodstuff - that's a handy idea seeing as radishes can sometimes glut due to their rapid growth. I think its great seeing someone growing showing growing veggies in a small urban garden with all the successes and failures associated with it. A nice realistic show that hopefully will encourage others to fall suit.

I think the description gentle sums it up-haven't watched last nights programme yet-but she is down to earth and its great that she is showing what can be grown in a small space without compromising the look of the garden.

Only seen Episode 1(catching up on PVR). As said, 'tis gentle but that might well be appropriate to inspire "pocket patch" hopefuls. Not that impressed by the jarring juddery style film editing.

Stick with it, there are some good ideas lurking around for preserving gluts etc, and she is not afraid to show her failures and how she overcomes them. Dave NE
